REP Starts Biodiesel Production

Renewable Energy Products (REP) has started up the largest biodiesel production facility in Los Angeles County and has received EPA approval to sell its biodiesel. The multi-feedstock biodiesel plant has a nameplate capacity of 10 million gallons per year.

REP’s plant is centrally located near the 5, 605 and 105 freeways and is sited at the former Powerine Oil refinery which is owned by Lakeland Development Company.  The facility makes use of some pre-existing infrastructure along with improvements put in specfically for biodiesel production.

REP was granted US $630,000 for its project from the California EPA/California Air Resources Board (CARB) under an alternative fuels grant issued in June 2007. Customers can purchase the biodiesel via spot rack contracts as well as long-term variable (indexed based) and fixed priced forward ratable contracts.
