Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Captain Ozone, the world famous clean energy crusader. I wear a mask.
I traveled a half-century backwards through time from the year 2039 to put a hault to future wars over oil and to stop greenhouse gas emissions. My assigned mission was to deliver vital data in my holopedia to scientists throughout the world in 1989 who were involved in the research and development of zero-emissions, renewable energy systems. The data was of schematics of highly-efficient solar, wind, geothermal and hydro power systems that were technologically fifty years ahead of the time. These futuristic renewable energy systems would make every nation energy self-sufficient, eliminating future wars over oil, plus they would significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions held to cause rapid climate change.
During my voyage to the year 1989 on March 13th, I inadvertently caused some sort of cosmic electromagnetic storm which demagnetized my holopedia’s memory bank and wiped all its data clean. My storm also caused the Hydro-Québec’s electricity transmission system to collapse. The media attributed the system collapse to an X15-class solar flare.
Since I was no longer able to deliver the schematics to sceintists around the world involved in zero-emissions technologies, I had no choice but to come up with a Plan B.
I met two young men, Michael and Matthew Schutte, who had just started a nonprofit organization named Environmental Media Northwest (www.emnw.org). Matthew created a syndicated Captain Ozone comic strip about my exploits and adventures and Michael produced a televised rock music video about me featuring the band Bows & Eros. A few years later, this organization produced a string of radio, television and movie theater PSAs featuring me as spokesman that highlighted the benefits of hydrogen fuel and also raised public concern for endangered wild salmon. Owing to their multi-media campaigns I starred in, I became known throughout the United States and Canada as a cult, underground eco hero.
In the summer of 2010 I organized a Green Power Rally in the United States and Canada. Today I write articles to magazines about how citizens can get off the power grid and I also moderate a home renewable energy forum on Facebook.
Since my initial mission was a failure due to my schematics being erased, I’ve been trying my very best to do all I can to promote zero-emissions, renewable energy with what little resources and funds I have. Plan B has helped raise public awareness and support for green power and I’m quite happy with that.
