Renewable Energy Funding from House Agriculture Appropriations

Washington, DC [] The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture marked up its appropriations bill (May 3). The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) is reporting that Sec. 9006 the Renewable Energy Systems & Energy Efficiency Improvements program is funded at $20 million discretionary, plus $3 million mandatory for a total of $23 million, which makes the program fully funded. The popular (Sec. 6401) Value-added Producer Grant program is funded at $28 million in mandatory funds, down from its original authorization of $40 million for FY07, but up from its final appropriation of $20.5 million in FY06. The House bill now will go to the full committee for consideration and then to the House floor. The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture has not yet scheduled its markup of the bill.
