Poultry Waste Turning to Fuel

2002-03-22 [SolarAccess.com] The Fibrominn generating plant near Benson, Minnesota, will be able to generate 50 MW of electricity from 500,000 tons of poultry litter every year when it comes online. Fibrominn LLC is developing the first poultry litter-fueled power plant in the United States in partnership with the city of Benson. Fibrominn is part of the Fibrowatt Group, an international developer, builder, owner and operator of electricity power plants fueled by agricultural biomass, including poultry litter. Fibrowatt’s parent has built the world’s first three poultry litter fueled power plants in the United Kingdom, and is working on the development of further plants in the UK, continental Europe and elsewhere.
