Poultry Biomass to Power Minnesota

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] SNC-Lavalin Power has signed a US $142 million contract with Fibrominn for the engineering, procurement and construction of a 50 MW biomass fueled power plant in the city of Benson, Minnesota. The plant will use the manure and bedding from the poultry industry as its primary fuel, which will be burned to power a boiler and turbine power generator. Power produced at the plant is under contract for sale to Xcel Energy. Work on the new power plant has already begun, and the plant should begin operating in the first quarter of 2007.
