Ocean Power in GBP20m Deal for African Wave Plant

Scotland [Sunday Herald] Leith-based Ocean Power Delivery is on track to secure a GBP20 million [USD$35 million] contract for a wave generation plant in South Africa following breakdown of a nuclear power station in Africa’s biggest economy. A 10-megawatt (MW) pilot wave energy scheme is being planned, which could lead to a deal to build a full commercial wave farm producing 30 MW of power in Mossel Bay on the country’s garden route coast. … The 10 MW pilot would be worth GBP20m, said Carcas, and that project could become a 30 MW commercial seaborne energy farm.
