New York Offers Green Marketing Funds

The New York State Energy Research & Development Administration will provide US$3 million in funding to organizations to develop programs to market existing renewable resources to consumers in the state.

NEW YORK, New York, US 2001-11-30 [] The NYSERDA funding is designed to introduce a menu of green power products for retail consumers, thereby supporting the development of renewable energy. To be eligible, marketers must meet certain criteria relating to credit, previous success and product offerings. NYSERDA also has $300,000 in funding available for proposals that present unique and promising options which are not yet in use for marketing renewable energy sources. Activities could include market research and development of green power marketing methods. Applicants must complete a marketing and business plan and lodge their proposals by November 26. NYSERDA is also soliciting proposals for the exploration and development of a Regional Environmental Attribute Certificate Accounting & Trading System that will facilitate the sale of environmental attributes associated with energy sold through the New York Independent System Operator and through similar systems. The proposals must support or satisfy private consumer demands for green products, and comply with other energy and environmental policies, particularly New York’s environmental disclosure policy. Proposals are due November 27.
