New Hydrogen Unit Destined for San Francisco Bay Area

Under the terms of a letter of intent signed by Air Liquide Large Industries U.S. LP and ConocoPhillips, Air Liquide will build, own and operate a new 120 million standard cubic feet per day steam methane reformer (SMR) facility to be located at ConocoPhillips’ refinery on the northeastern shore of San Francisco bay in Rodeo, California.

Scheduled to be completed by mid-2008, the large-scale hydrogen unit will supply the existing and future requirements of the Rodeo Refinery and will also provide the foundation to support future hydrogen opportunities that are anticipated in the San Francisco area. “This hydrogen contract represents a significant milestone in the competitive hydrogen market and gives Air Liquide a solid position in the San Francisco Bay Area from which to capitalize on future growth opportunities,” said Pierre Dufour, Air Liquide Executive VP. Air Liquide Group offers industrial gas and energy solutions to industries to improve their process efficiency and environmental responsibilities, in line with the company’s commitment to sustainable development. It operates 200 hydrogen production units around the world, of which 30 are large units (including six large units in the U.S.). Air Liquide Large Industries U.S. LP is a subsidiary of American Air Liquide Holdings, Inc.
