Shell Solar and AE Schmidt Environmental (AESE) recently celebrated the successful design and construction of a 73 kW PV system.Camarillo, California – March 13, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] AESE is a leading design/build, general construction company that services many markets including conventional and alternative fuels, power generation, environmental and heavy industrial construction projects. With the incentives received from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the Gas Company, the system will pay for itself in approximately four to five years. After that, and with an anticipated useful system life in excess of 25 years, AESE can expect 20 years of free electricity, with virtually no maintenance. The immediate benefit is roughly a 30 percent reduction in the cost of electricity for the building, which is equivalent to several thousand dollars per month. The system has lived up to AESE’s high expectations. According to Arthur Babcock, one of the founders and principal partners, the Shell Solar PV system routinely achieves the rated output even on cloudy or foggy days. “Unexpected benefits of the system include how it complements our environmental focus and makes our employees proud to be part of a company willing to invest in Renewable Energy,” said Babcock.
