Minnesota Station Tests Ethanol Waters

August 11, 2003 [SolarAccess.com]After a 4,000-gallon diesel tank was retrofitted at Beaudry Oil, in Elk River Minnesota to hold E85, a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, the service station launched an extensive campaign to promote the alternative fuel product. Beaudry Oil ran 20,000 “one dollar off” E85 coupons in their local newspaper and also circulated flyers to government fleet agencies and to the Elk River Ford dealership. Beaudry Oil Station Manager Lisa Olson said the station had been losing many customers, because they had not been carrying E85. Olsen added that Beaudry Oild was now anxious to see how the community will react now that they carry the renewable fuel product. Beaudry Oil plans to sell the domestic fuel considerably lower than its regular unleaded gasoline cost. The current price of E85 is $1.25 while unleaded is $1.49.
