Minnesota Ethanol Beats Gasoline Prices

August 6, 2003[SolarAccess.com] After nearly two years of researching the logistics of retailing E85, a cooperative service in Windom, Minnesota, has begun pumping the clean-burning fuel. E85 is the term for motor fuel blends of 85 percent ethanol and just 15 percent gasoline. It is an alternative fuel as defined by the U.S. Department of Energy. The American Lung Association of Minnesota and Ethanol2000 assisted with establishing the new Windom service station that offers the ethanol-based fuel for automobiles. Windom’s Country Pride Services, located at 215 1st Avenue South, is currently selling E85 at $1.33, which twenty cents below the price of regular unleaded gasoline. The store is open Monday thru Friday, 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on weekends from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m.
