Macadamia Shells Power 1000 Homes in Australia

July 5, 2002 [] Macadamia shells are being used to generate electricity in Queensland, Australia by Ergon Energy and Suncoast Gold Macadamias, which exports its products to over 20 nations. The venture is a biomass co-generation initiative which will transform 5,000 tons of macadamia shell waste into sufficient electric power resources to provide power for over 1,000 homes.
