Lawmaker Calls for Oil Companies to Invest in Hydrogen, Biodiesel

[] Representative Lee Terry (NE-02), a member of the Energy and Commerce Committee joined the GOP leadership this week in calling on the oil and gas industry to reinvest its record profits into renewable energy and energy infrastructure. Rep. Terry has been a particularly big proponent of hydrogen having played a key role in getting the “Terry Hydrogen Fuel Cell Amendment” added to the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The provision doubled funds to the tune of $4.06 billion for research, development, and implementation of affordable hydrogen energy technology. He said this week that Congress has done its part to move the technology and that now it’s time for “industry to step up.” His emphasis has been on support of hydrogen and biodiesel.
