Largest U.S. Biomass Power Plant Opens in Texas

The state of Texas now has the largest biomass power plant in the country.  After 2 ½ years of construction the Nacogdoches Generating Facility power plant in Nacogdoches county near Sacul has been brought online and is now feeding electricity into the Texas grid.  The plant, owned by Southern Company, will be producing electricity for Austin Energy under a 20 year power purchase agreement.


The new plant is welcomed in the state of Texas which is struggling to meet electricity demand.
