Japan to Finance Sri Lankan Hydro Project

2002-03-13 [SolarAccess.com] Japan has agreed to finance a 150 MW hydro-electricity project that had been held up for 10 years due to protests from environmentalists on the Upper Kotmale project in central Sri Lanka. The six dam project, which environmentalists argued would ruin waterfalls and harm picturesque mountainous regions, will begin by early June.
