IHS Acquires Emerging Energy Research

IHS Inc. announced the acquisition of Emerging Energy Research this week. The purchase price is approximately $18 million.

“Emerging Energy Research is a high-growth insight leader whose products and services will significantly enhance the existing IHS energy and environment business offerings,” said Jerre Stead, IHS’ chairman and CEO. “This acquisition will help strengthen our leadership position in the rapidly evolving climate change and alternative energy information market, and provide even greater breadth and depth of information and insight for our global customers.”

The acquisition will also grow IHS capabilities and offerings in the environment space, which began with the acquisitions of EnvironMax, Dolphin Software and Environmental Software Providers in 2007 and 2008, and continued with the acquisition of Environmental Support Solutions in 2009.

Emerging Energy Research delivers research-based advice, support and analysis to executives and key decision-makers for customers spanning utilities, power developers/independent power producers and renewable energy manufacturing.

“Customers rely on Emerging Energy Research to provide informed, objective views on market segments across the alternative energy industry,” said William Ambrose Emerging Energy Research’s president and founder. “We are excited to join IHS, which has firmly established itself as the leader in helping companies navigate the complex energy landscape and make critical business decisions.”
