Hydropower Construction Begins in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – August, 13, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] A Chinese company started building a hydro-power project in northern Ethiopia Monday with a total cost of approximately US$224 million. According to the China National Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering Corporation, the main structure of the concrete dam will be 185 meters high. The dam construction and installation of the power plant is to take five years to be completed.
