Hydro-Quebec and Alcan Enter Agreement

Alcan Inc. and Hydro-Quebec have signed a deal creating an alliance to identify and develop opportunities in the power sector. After Hydro-Quebec, Alcan is the second largest hydroelectric producer in Quebec through a series of dams in a region north of Quebec City to produce power for its smelters. Under the deal, the two companies will share hydroelectric resources in the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region and provide power to support eventual expansion of Alcan’s new Alma smelter.
