Geothermal Sites Planned for Germany

Vienna, Austria [] A Geothermal Power Station (GPS) could be tapped by November 2006 in Germany’s Rheinland-Pfalz region where deposits of geothermal waters are known to occur. An Option Agreement between Protec Industries GmbH and Alte Fide, Real Estate & Financial Development GmbH has opened development of Geothermic stations. Three other sites are planned in the coming years. Alte Fide estimates it will cost 4 million Euros to locate and delineate a geothermal water source that produces at least 80 liters/second at 150 degrees C (approx. 21 gallons/second @ 302 degrees F).
