GE Upgrades Turbines

GE Energy will supply equipment and technical services to upgrade two Kaplan hydro turbines at power plants in Finland. The plants are owned by UPM, one of the world’s leading forest products companies.

Tampere, Finland – July 7, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] The upgrade work will boost the power output of each hydro turbine from 16 MW to approximately 20 MW, and increase turbine efficiency approximately 2 percent.
