Forming a Single Voice for British Biomass

The Renewable Power Association and British Biogen announced that they have agreed to amalgamate, creating a single voice for Britain’s biomass energy producers. Biomass currently accounts for about 30 percent of renewable electricity generation in the United Kingdom, and there are emerging markets for renewable heat production and transport biofuels. The merged group is working on a strategy for the sector, which will be unveiled at its Biomass Conference in Cambridge in July. The RPA and British Biogen have started contributing to the Government’s study on the future of biomass headed and are also working on a strategy for the renewable energy sector.
