Federal Funds Bring Rail Spur to Biodiesel Refinery

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] The biodiesel production facility in Durant, Oklahoma, owned by Earth Biofuels, will get the rail spur and industrial road it needed thanks to a $500,000 grant/loan awarded by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. The grant/loan, formally known as a Community Development Block Grant — Economic Development Infrastructure Financing (CDBG-EDIF) program, is federally funded to benefit business development in the area. Under terms of the funding arrangement, Earth Biofuels will receive approximately $500,000 worth of improvements, and has agreed to repay approximately $130,000 to the City of Durant over 20 years.
