Evergreen BioFuels Announces Agreement with Show Me Energy

Evergreen BioFuels USA (EBF), announced an agreement with Show Me Energy Cooperative to engineer, build and manage a biomass pellet fuel production plant in Missouri.

The $6.5 Million plant will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of biomass pellet fuels, which EBF will sell into the local energy market. Show Me Energy is a cooperative made up of 400 farm businesses and will supply the biomass. The plant is expected to be completed in early 2008.

“Our goal is to produce millions of tons of renewable energy pellets to displace coal use. If adopted on a global scale, this has the potential to displace billions of tons of greenhouse gases, which are responsible for today’s climate change crisis,” said Mark Drisdelle, CEO of EBF. “While others are relying on food crops to create energy, SMEC is demonstrating a sustainable, environmentally friendly way that doesn’t threaten the food supply or skew the market.”
