Europe – Not All of It – Leads Call for A Biofuels Pause

[New Europe] From environmental activist groups to European Parliament lawmakers, a clarion call is sounding to limit or end production of bio-fuels that are increasingly being blamed for the rise in food prices and scarcity of foodstuffs. At a press conference in Strasbourg, Green MEPs called on the European Commission to scrap its 10 percent target for bio-fuels and establish a moratorium to allow clarification of their use.
