Ethanol-Powered Dragster Draws Attention

September 24, 2004 [] Mark Thomas, five-time International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Funny Car champion brought his ethanol-powered performance race car to Capitol Hill promoting ethanol’s success as a fuel of the future with the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) and Renewable Fuels Association (RFA). The two organizations and the Ohio Corn Growers Association have worked with Congress and the Administration to produce energy policy that provides an enhanced role for renewable energy sources and produce environmentally safe production of domestic supplies of fuel. NCGA and RFA have worked toward immediate passage of a comprehensive energy bill that includes a renewable fuels standard (RFS) along with the Volumetric Ethanol Excise Tax Credit (VEETC). VEETC and RFS not only benefit corn farms and rural communities, they also provide a stable, domestically produced energy source, and promote job growth.
