Ethanol Plant Construction Underway

April 28, 2004 [] Voyager Ethanol, began construction on its ethanol plant near Emmetsburg, Iowa. Work on the project began the week of April 19. The company will process over 17.5 million bushels of corn into 50 million gallons of ethanol and 150,000 tons of distillers grains annually. Once operational in the summer of 2005, the plant is expected to employ approximately 40 people. The plant is being built by Broin Companies of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Currently, 75 ethanol plants nationwide have the capacity to produce over 3.2 billion gallons annually. There are 13 ethanol plants under construction.
