Ethanol Investors Give Award and Form Green Network

San Francisco, California [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] As part of its “Greentech initiative,” Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) announced an investment in biofuel company Altra Inc. and the $100,000 KPCB Prize for Green Innovation. Altra, based in Los Angeles, plans to acquire a large operating ethanol plant in California. It has already invested in five biofuels plants, which will have the capacity to produce 175 million gallons of ethanol and 80 million gallons of biodiesel each year. The total financing of more than $50 million included funding from KPCB and four other firms. KPCB also launched the Greentech Innovation Network for Green Policy and Technology Entrepreneurs to build a strategic map for evaluating needs and encouraging innovation, and to forge new partnerships.
