Emera Drops Plans for Power Line in Maine for Bangor-Hydro

2002-03-04 [SolarAccess.com] Emera Inc., the Canadian parent company of Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. has withdrawn the utility’s application to build a new power line across the eastern part Maine from consideration before the Maine Board of Environmental Protection (MBEP.) The company indicated in a letter to the MBEP that it would file a new application to build the line in a different location. Emera officials also said they are in the process of withdrawing two lawsuits against International Paper, the primary landowner along the originally proposed power line route.
