Educating the Green Workforce

The Interstate Renewable Energy Council will host a National Conference aimed at educating the green workforce. The event will provide information on instructional strategies, curricula development, and best practices for training in the renewable energy and energy efficiency fields.

Conference sessions will include New Approaches to Course Delivery; Designing Training for Different Audiences; Lessons Learned from Training Programs; Hands-On Laboratories; Resources to Start or Improve Energy Programs; Green Jobs Corps and Training the Electrical Trades.

The conference is sponsored by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and organized by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council, the Partnership for Environmental Technology Education, and Hudson Valley Community College.

Prior to the start of the Conference, there will be six technical workshops offered on Tuesday, March 18, 2008.  Workshop topics include Photovoltaic Systems and the National Electrical Code; Solar Hot Water Education; Wind Energy Science for Educations; Criterion-Referenced Testing and Nuts and Bolts of Ethanol and Biofuels-Hydrogen and Fuel Cells.

The conference will take place on March 19 and 20, 2008 at Hudson Valley Community College in New York.
