E3 BioFuels Opens Closed-Loop Ethanol Plant

Sioux Falls, South Dakota [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] The American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) congratulated E3 BioFuels upon the grand opening of its closed-loop ethanol facility located near Mead, Nebraska — the nation’s first featuring a cattle feedlot and an ethanol plant. In a patented system that uses virtually no fossil fuels, the E3 BioFuels Genesis Plant uses a closed-loop process in which the feedlot’s cattle manure and some cellulosic biomass are turned into a biogas in an anaerobic digester, the biogas powers the ethanol plant, and the ethanol process co-product distillers grain is fed to the cattle. With 28,000 head of beef cattle, the Genesis Plant system effectively manages agriculture waste, eliminating the potential for manure runoff and the emissions of methane gas. The E3 BioFuels ethanol plant will produce 25 million gallons of the renewable fuel annually.
