[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] With every transition to a second term of a U.S. Presidency come a handful of high-level staffing changes. Secretary of State, Colin Powell, and Attorney General John Ashcroft’s resignations drew perhaps the most attention for cabinet-level resignations, but two other shake-ups could affect the course for renewable energy over the next four years. Energy Secretary, Spencer Abraham announced early this week that he is resigning his position within the Department of Energy, pending confirmation of a new Energy Secretary. U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman also announced her resignation. Both agencies, and the DOE in particular, have played an important hand in the renewable energy arena.
