Diary Operation Taps Manure for Renewable Power

January 23, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] A Wisconsin dairy has taken an order for an anaerobic digester which will produce electricity from the farm’s manure supply. Portsmouth, New Hampshire-based Environmental Power Corporation (EPC, announced that its subsidiary, Microgy Cogeneration Systems, had signed an additional agreement with an entity owned by Norswiss Dairy, of Rice Lake, Wisconsin for an arrangement in which Norswiss will purchase a digester system based on Microgy’s proprietary, anaerobic digestion technology to process manure produced by their dairy operations. This agreement follows the recent signings in January of similar agreements with Wild Rose Dairy and Five Star Dairy, bringing to three the number of Microgy’s digester systems under agreement for purchase.
