Corn Growers Pressure Congress on RE

November 14, 2002 [] Members of the National Corn Growers Association have flooded Capitol Hill with messages to Congress insisting a renewable fuels standard (RFS) be included in the final energy bill. The messages come on the heels of an effort late last week by Rep. Billy Tauzin, chairman of the energy bill conference committee, to obtain enough signatures to file the energy conference report without inclusion of the RFS, according to the NCGA. Corn is the primary resource to create the renewable fuel ethanol which could be a part of a future RFS.
