Consumers Can Promote Renewable Energy

[] GreenShift’s investment in TerraPass, which is a development stage company founded at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, will enable consumers to purchase CO2 credits and renewable energy certificates (RECs). When consumers purchase TerraPass, they offset their car’s emissions by investing in clean-energy alternatives such as wind and bioenergy; a decal sold through the TerraPass website is certified to eliminate the equivalent of a single car’s carbon dioxide emissions. With an average car traveling 12,000 miles per year, at the rate of about 20 lbs. of CO2 per gallon of gasoline burned, (10,000 lbs. of CO2 annually). TerraPass proposes to scrub that pollution from the environment.
