Consulting Firm Touts Green Power Purchase

[] ICF Consulting purchased enough renewable energy certificates to cover 24 percent of the electricity needs for all of its U.S. offices. The purchase is an even split of power from wind and landfill gas recovery plants, and the certificates are third party certified by Green-e, a renewable energy certification program run by the Center for Resource Solutions in California. This commitment is the largest known green power purchase by a consulting company, according to the ICF press release, and fits with the company’s goal of helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and promoting environmentally sustainable technologies. ICF Consulting purchased 1,227,000 kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to keeping approximately 1.6 million pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. With this renewable purchase, ICF Consulting became a partner in the Green Power Partnership program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
