Choosing Renewable Energy Sources for America

[Helium.com] The lead in to this subject is somewhat misleading because renewable energy sources are primarily dependent on local conditions. This is in contrast to fossil energy resources, most of which are extracted a long distance away from where they are ultimately used. Transportability goes a long way towards explaining why coal, oil, and natural gas are America’s primary energy resources at this point in time. Simply having a resource is not enough; we must be able to get the resource to the areas that need it at an acceptable cost. Thus the question is not “What renewable energy options should be pursued in America?”. Instead, it is “What renewable energy resources are appropriate for ‘X’ location?” Here are some possibilities.
