Carmanah Supplies USMC and USAF with Solar-powered Lighting

Carmanah Technologies Corporation’s Solar LED Lighting Group has received an order from the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) for 60 of its GI-10W dual solar-powered lighting units, portable airfield lights that will illuminate distance-to-go markers placed on each side of the runway to aid pilots during takeoff and landing at a U.S. Marine Corps base in the Middle East.

Carmanah’s solar-powered LED lighting technology is designed for portable airfield lighting needs where there is little or no access to reliable grid power and the ongoing fuel and maintenance costs associated with generators and the electrical grid are of primary concern. Carmanah’s lights have been proven to withstand extreme weather and harsh working conditions, operating reliably and requiring no maintenance for up to five years. In a separate order for Carmanah’s Solar LED Lighting Division has also received an order from the US Air Force (USAF) to supply 144 of its A601 solar-powered LED lights for use as portable airfield lighting to illuminate taxiways at a US Air Force base, also in the Middle East. The A601 solar-powered LED lights are compact and self-contained suitable for demanding portable airfield lighting applications.
