Canadian Clean Air Plan

September 23, 2002 [] Ontario Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty says hundreds of jobs and cleaner air will be the result of the expansion of the Sir Adam Beck Generation Station in Niagara Falls. McGuinty’s five-point clean air plan includes cleaner power generation and the shutting down of Ontario’s coal-fired plants by 2007, cleaner fuels, more public transit, more energy conservation, and a real commitment to boosting Renewable Energy. A key element of McGuinty’s clean air plan is building a third tunnel at the Beck Generating Station in Niagara Falls, boosting its output of clean, renewable electricity. The project would expand Beck’s existing power production by 15 percent.
