Biomass Technology Starts at the Pulp Mill

[RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Before wood pulp is suitable for biomass burning it has to be dried out and disintegrated. Alternative Green Energy Systems received a grant from the Sustainable Development Technology Canada to finance the fabrication and installation of a large scale KDS- 3000 system at a pulp mill in Canada. The KDS 3000 is a production machine designed by AGES to kinetically dewater and disintegrate a variety of wet waste biomass materials. The dry disintegrated biomass produced by the system may be used as a substitute green fuel, or be further processed to yield useful value-added materials such as recovered paper fiber and kaolin/calcium carbonate. SDTC is a funding organization created by the Canadian Government to provide assistance to Canadian businesses wishing to showcase newly developed technologies that have wide spread market potential. Applicable technologies should also demonstrate an ability to aid in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, help reach the goal of sustainable development and help with clean air and climate change. Funding agreements under the plan call for a two to one matching investment from the private sector applicants.
