Biomass for Breakfast

April 18, 2002 [SolarAccess.com] A two-week pilot program to burn leftover oats from cereal-maker Quaker Oats could begin in May at the University of Iowa pending approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Iowa Department of Natural resources. If successful and permanently adopted, the program could save the university between US$324,000 and US$624,000 within a year, mostly on savings from coal purchases.
