Biodiesel Plant Feedback

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has prepared an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for the proposed construction of SoyMor Cooperative Biodiesel Production Facility. SoyMor is a cooperative of soybean farmers from southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.

Rochester, Minnesota – July 6, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] The proposed facility would produce approximately 25 million gallons of biodiesel per year from the oil of soybeans grown in Minnesota and Iowa, and would be located on a 23-acre site adjacent to the soy lecitin plant currently under construction in the Glenville Industrial Park in western Glenville. An EAW is used to evaluate the potential for significant environmental effects resulting from the project and to determine if an Environmental Impact Statement, which is a more comprehensive environmental review, is needed. Interested parties are invited to submit comments on the EAW from June 21 to July 21, 2004 at 4:30 p.m. Copies of the EAW are available for review through the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, and comments should be submitted to Barbara Jean Conti, MPCA, 520 Lafayette Road North, St. Paul, MN 55155-4194. Comments can also be submitted by fax at (651) 296-7782.
