Bill Requires Ethanol-Blended Gasoline in Louisiana

Baton Rouge, Louisiana [Associated Press] Governor Kathleen Blanco signed a bill today requiring that ethanol-blended gasoline and other alternative fuels be sold in Louisiana once manufacture of the fuels in the state reaches certain levels. Blanco says Agriculture Commissioner Bob Odom, who has wide discretion in enforcing the bill, will delay the measure’s start if it appears on track to increase gas prices. Today was the deadline for Blanco to either veto the bill, sign it or allow it to become law without her signature.
