American Electric Technologies, Inc. (AETI) has announced a geothermal project in southeast Asia. AETI’s Singapore-based joint venture, M&I Electric Far East, is to supply custom-designed power delivery system components to Chevron Geothermal Indonesia, a subsidiary of Chevron Texaco.

The equipment is to be supplied to the Darajat power plants on the island of Java, which combined generate more than 800 megawatts (MW) of energy and are operated by the Chevron geothermal unit. Financial terms were not disclosed.

“This contract in Indonesia fits with AETI’s focus on delivering power-delivery solutions for the renewable energy market, and we are pleased to be involved in the development of this geothermal energy project,” said Arthur Dauber, CEO of AETI.
