Acquisition Yields Patented Ethanol Process

[] Xethanol, a biotechnology-driven ethanol production company, has acquired Xylose Technologies, which holds a license for a patented process that converts xylose into fuel ethanol and commodity sweetener xylitol from biomass. This technology was developed by researchers at the USDA Forest Products Laboratory and the University of Wisconsin. According to the inventor at USDA FPL, the demand for ethanol as a fuel additive is expected to grow with the discontinuation of MBTE.
