A-Power & Amraas International Reach Biomass and Geothermal Deals

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. has signed agreements with Pakistan Amraas International Private Limited (Amraas) for the build out of two separate renewable energy projects in Pakistan.

The first project entails the construction and operation of two 25-megawatt (MW) biomass power plants for Amraas. The total value of the contract is estimated to be US $120 million.

As part of this agreement, A-Power will act as the general contractor overseeing engineering, procurement and construction of this project, and will subcontract certain portions of the project to third parties. Construction is scheduled to commence in 2010.

The second agreement calls for the development of a geothermal project for the Pakistan Parliament Building (753,480 square feet) between Shenyang Power Group (SPG), which A-Power is a majority owner in, and Amraas International.

SPG will act as the general contractor for the engineering, procurement and construction and equipment adjustment for the project, and will subcontract certain portions of the project to third parties. The Pakistani government is expected to provide the funding for the project.
