Nadia Abunasser, PhD

Nadia Abunasser is the Federal Development and Projects Director for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, where she works in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation division. She works within the team to develop and manage programs to support high tech entrepreneurs in the State of Michigan.  She serves as the primary contact for most of the State funded business incubators, and several entrepreneurial service providers in addition to supporting the state’s investments in the large federal opportunities in advanced manufacturing.  Prior to this role she served as the Technology Development Manager for the MEDC in the areas of biofuels/bio-based chemicals and advanced materials where she helped develop the MEDC’s strategy to attract advanced manufacturing/materials to the state, a strategy that eventually led to both ALMMII and IACMI locating in Michigan. Nadia also works closely with the MEDC’s Market Development team on several of their initiatives including in the area of connected vehicles.

Nadia received her undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the Jordan University of Science and Technology.  She then continued her education at Purdue University receiving a MS in Chemical Engineering 2002 and PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2005.  Nadia was also a post-doctoral research assistant at the National Biofuels Energy Lab at Wayne State University, from July 2007- July 2008.
