I am an editor and writer with a longtime focus on science and the environment. AEI is a resource/info center, not an advocacy organization. It is, in essence, a large editorial project focused on sound-related environmental issues. Our Special Reports and lay summaries of research have become widely-distributed among ocean management agency staff and top researchers in the field of ocean noise; they are valued for their clear summation of the current state of knowledge, free of hyperbole. For several years, AEI has had some coverage of terrestrial oil and gas development, and I have twice been invited to present plenary talks at the biannual Alberta Spring Noise Control conference. In the past couple of years, I have been addressing noise issues near wind farms, and am attempting to take a similarly balanced stance to this issue. I've was invited to present on community responses to wind farm noise at WPA's New England Wind Energy Education Project's webinar on the topic in the summer of 2010, and presented a poster at the NWCC's Wind and Wildlife meeting in October 2010.
