A trio of recent moves aim to advance Welsh renewables.
Geothermal energy not only has a renewed exploration roadmap to follow, but a revived political landscape as well.
Enterprising owners of a cow shelter here have started bottling cylinders of biogas to popularise the eco-friendly fuel. The authorities at Govind ‘Gowshala’ are utilising animal waste to generate fuel and is also by promoting biogas as an affordable alternative to cooking gas and vehicle fuel. “Petroleum products will soon get exhausted, they anyway cause pollution. We get cow dung […]
In line with its commitment to boost the use of renewable energy in the country, the government today announced an ambitious programme for meeting the energy requirements of the rural households through efficient utilisation of biomass resources.
More than half of today's energy consumption is squandered in useless waste heat, such as the heat from refrigerators and all sorts of gadgets and the heat from factories and power plants. The energy losses are even greater in cars. Automobile motors only manage to utilise 30 percent of the energy they generate, and the rest is lost. Part of the heat loss ends up as warm brakes and a hot exhaust pipe.
Biogas Technology Ltd has demonstrated a successful new low-calorific flaring solution to manage diminishing methane gas emissions on closed landfill sites. The innovative low-calorific gas flare has been successfully piloted as part of the ACUMEN (Assessing, Capturing and Utilising Methane from Expired and Non-operational landfills) project, which is funded by the EU Life+ environment programme. The new technology was trialled […]
Salisbury District Hospital is using an innovative low carbon energy generation system to save money, reduce carbon dioxide emissions and ensure patient comfort. Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust partnered with cogeneration specialists ENER-G to supply a combined heat and power (CHP) and district heating system. This is generating the majority of the hospital’s heating and low temperature hot water […]
The Global Geothermal Development Plan initiative, which could amount to US$500 million, will offer financing for geothermal feasibility assessments and test drilling, and will be the largest to date for promoting the use of geothermal energy in developing countries.
Following a number of announcements made in the last few weeks by gas and electricity suppliers that they are significantly raising their prices for millions of their customers wouldn’t you like to be able to easily obtain an assessment of how much you can potentially save in energy costs by having solar panels installed and without feeling under pressure by […]
Fife Council has appointed ENER-G to supply a high efficiency combined heat and power (CHP) system for its new anaerobic digestion facility at Lochhead landfill site in Dunfermline. The ENER-G biogas generation system will utilise an MTU engine, which at 42% electrical output, is one of the highest efficiency engines in the market. The MTU is powering numerous anaerobic digestion […]
