August 4, 2003[SolarAccess.com]The Springfield Mass Transit District (SMTD) added bio diesel-fueled buses to its fleet. Thirty-two diesel-powered buses are now using biodiesel fuel made from soybeans. The SMTD already operates 18 natural gas-powered buses in its fleet and has a fast-fill natural gas refueling facility on site. Biodiesel is the second clean domestic fuel that the District has implemented.
