Morgan Technical Ceramics has developed fused silica rollers designed for use in solar energy applications. Traditionally used for handling sheet glass for automobiles, appliances and architectural applications, the fused silica rollers feature what Morgan claims are outstanding mechanical properties and a special surface quality that make them especially suitable for use in both diffusion and thin film processing of solar panels.

Bosch Solar Energy AG has unveiled three prototypes of new crystalline and thin-film modules. Debuting at EU PVSEC (European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition), the company's thin-film product portfolio is to be supplemented by a micromorphous product with a frame. With its thermally toughened front glass panel, the module has a mechanical strength of 2400 pascal. Weighing in at 16 kilograms, it is substantially lighter than conventional thin-film glass-glass laminates (typically, around 25 kilograms).

Industrial coatings are generally used to diminish the effects of corrosion thus preventing the metal from being tarnished or damaged. Industrial protective coating enhances the finesse of the metal or material which in turn improves the quality. The important feature of these coatings is that they are weather proof and hence they provide robustness to the products used in the […]
Hailed by some as a way to reduce the financial burden homeowners face when going solar, Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing programs allow property owners to borrow money to pay for renewable energy or energy-efficiency improvements. Unlike traditional power purchase agreements or other solar loan programs, the amount borrowed is typically repaid over a period of years via a special assessment on the property.
Ontario's first commercial wind farm is one step closer to reality today after Huron Wind signed a contract with Vestas to build, install and commission its wind turbines on the shores of Lake Huron near Tiverton, Ontario.
Researchers are on the lookout for new materials to be used in the next generation of batteries that may one day replace current lithium ion batteries. Today, the latter are commonplace and provide a reliable power source for smartphones, laptops and many other portable electrical devices.
